Replacing logitech mouse

The mouse on my MK375 pair is bouncing. I bought an M280 non unifying mouse as a replacement. ConnectUtility_2.30.9_Logitech.exe is supposed to link the new mouse to my original dongle but the software does not work in either configuration. Logitech website does not appear to provide a solution or explanation. Any suggestions?
